Doing the Truth in Love: Conversations about God, Relationships, and Service ReviewMichael Himes has an outstanding way of making the ancient faith of the Catholic Church understandable in the 21st century. His clear and concise explanations provide a good spirituality for everyday life, a spirituality that is attentive in faith to the signs of the times and eager to accept the challenge of the Gospel. Fr. Himes' book challenges Catholicism to move beyond a mere moral code to become a life that is lived in the presence of a loving God. The review by "hhrom12" below is unhelpful and entirely too narrow a view of the great beauty that is Catholic Christianity. Himes' book teaches nothing that the Church Fathers would not agree with; in fact, he is closer to a clear understanding and enunciation of the faith than many of today's more narrow neo-conservative Catholic authors (who have abandoned the faith of the Church). If you want a faith that simply confirms your own prejudices, "Doing the Truth in Love" is not for you. The authors provide an introduction to crystal therapy, an overview of the four ways in which crystal deposits are formed, and an explanation of how crystalline structures reflect the sacred geometry of Platonic Solids. Putting crystal therapy in practice through intention and methods such as chakra balancing, angelic communication, astral travel and Feng Shui are also explained, as well as the purpose and character of 15 archangels. Other fascinating elements covered in Crystal Therapy include crystal selection and care (including cleansing and charging), and how to create eleven different crystal grids as an energetic framework for purposes such as world peace, healing, creativity and sleep.
When using clear quartz for healing, practitioners often use jargon to describe the various characteristics of the stone. The authors explain this terminology, and pictures of each are provided. These include phantoms, record keepers, generators, double terminated, manifestation, time links, and others.
The bulk of Crystal Therapy, however, is a directory of over 90 crystals outlining their healing properties, color/s, pronunciation, and the archangel/s associated with each. In addition to a channeled message from each of the stones, color photographs of most crystals are provided.
At 220 pages, Crystal Therapy is a solid contribution to the field of crystal healing--especially for those interested in angels and crystal channeling.
If, however, you are interested in crystal properties such as chemical compositions, hardness, and extensive astrological correlations-as well as the history and legend of over 140 stones and crystals accompanied by large, color photographs-I'd recommend Healing Crystals and Gemstones - From Amethyst to Zircon by Dr. Flora Peschek-Bohmer and Gisela Schreiber. Or, if you are looking for a book that addresses magical properties and intentions, planetary and elemental rulers, and stone symbolism-as well as how to use stones for divination and spells-you'd be better off with Cunningham's Encyclopedia of Crystal, Gem, and Metal Magic by Scott Cunningham (which includes a 16 page insert of color photographs of over 100 crystals, stones, and metals.)

The Art of Spiritual Peacemaking: Secret Teachings from Jeshua ben Joseph ReviewI have studied "A Course in Miracles" for years, and in my opinion "The Art of Spiritual Peacemaking" is the bridge that I have been waiting for. I hesitate to call it the sequel to "A Course in Miracles", but it is the same information and practices put into more straightforward and understandable language. I am only on lesson 29 out of 365, but I can tell you that the insights that I have gained already have changed my life on a daily basis. I can't wait to get up the next morning and read the daily reading and lesson. The practices are simple yet profound when applying them to your day. I cannot recommend this book enough to those on the spiritual path of getting in touch with their soul and the only reality that will bring you true peace. It has helped me to forgive and to see myself as mistaken in the way I have been looking at the world instead of "guilty". The Millionaire Real Estate Investor ReviewAn excellent book. You should know that I have read well over 200 books on real estate investing. And been investing seriously in real estate for over 25 years, as well as teach seminars on the topic. And this is the best book on the topic to come out recently. I predict it will be a classic, on the scale of William Nickerson's "How I Turned $1000 into Five Million in Real Estate in My Spare Time," no longer in publication. The writing is clear and simple. Most of the examples are investing in single family houses, so most people could start investing using this guide. The volume covers a vast range of issues related to being a successful real estate investor. You should be aware however, this is a "theoretical" or overview volume. There is not a lot of detail on how to impliment any one investment strategy. But it does give you a grounding in how real estate investing works. It gives you the guidelines for how to develop your real estate investing business. The only part I disagree with is the need to have a bunch of other people surround you as you build up your wealth. All the multimillionaire real estate investors I hang around with did it pretty much on their own. Maybe that just means we have different personalities. Other than that, however, I'm impressed--and there are few books on the topic that will inpress me these days. This is a far better investment than a $3,000 week-end seminar. The Everything Kids' Science Experiments Book: Boil Ice, Float Water, Measure Gravity-Challenge the World Around You ReviewThis is a great book, chock-a-block w/ very accessible experiments. One of the best features is the way the experiments are grouped together: a 'theme' (say, Acids, in the Chemistry section) will have a group of experiments of varying degrees of complexity that together add up to a pretty good understanding of the concept. Also, most of the materials are readily at hand- for many of them we really did already have everything in the house. This is esp. gratifying for the kids, who of course want to do the experiment *right now*. I would imagine that home-schooling families would enjoy this, but our school-going kids enjoy doing these experiments after school & on weekends.
