The Book of Stones: Who They Are & What They Teach ReviewBefore you buy this book, do yourself a favor and have a look at the product catalog of the authors' crystal business, called Heaven & Earth. I was impressed with this book at first, but then I began to notice how many of the crystals are trademarked. Trademarked crystals seemed a little odd to me, and I can give them the benefit of the doubt if there are one or two, but apparently the authors are "discovering" these new crystals all the time. Keep reading the catalog and you'll find that a lot of these "new" (and as it happens, invariably rare and sold by the gram) crystals are regular, not so uncommon crystals with fancy trademarked names, some other variation of a manmade coating on an existing crystal, or even just glass. Have a good look at the catalog, because the purpose of this book is to convince you that you need the stuff in that catalog.
Don't get me wrong; I believe in crystal healing and that's probably why this systematic exploitation of crystals and the people eager to learn about them makes me feel ill.
I gave this book 2 stars because the photography is lovely and it makes a good doorstop. Please look for another book to buy, though.

The authors provide an introduction to crystal therapy, an overview of the four ways in which crystal deposits are formed, and an explanation of how crystalline structures reflect the sacred geometry of Platonic Solids. Putting crystal therapy in practice through intention and methods such as chakra balancing, angelic communication, astral travel and Feng Shui are also explained, as well as the purpose and character of 15 archangels. Other fascinating elements covered in Crystal Therapy include crystal selection and care (including cleansing and charging), and how to create eleven different crystal grids as an energetic framework for purposes such as world peace, healing, creativity and sleep.
When using clear quartz for healing, practitioners often use jargon to describe the various characteristics of the stone. The authors explain this terminology, and pictures of each are provided. These include phantoms, record keepers, generators, double terminated, manifestation, time links, and others.
The bulk of Crystal Therapy, however, is a directory of over 90 crystals outlining their healing properties, color/s, pronunciation, and the archangel/s associated with each. In addition to a channeled message from each of the stones, color photographs of most crystals are provided.
At 220 pages, Crystal Therapy is a solid contribution to the field of crystal healing--especially for those interested in angels and crystal channeling.
If, however, you are interested in crystal properties such as chemical compositions, hardness, and extensive astrological correlations-as well as the history and legend of over 140 stones and crystals accompanied by large, color photographs-I'd recommend Healing Crystals and Gemstones - From Amethyst to Zircon by Dr. Flora Peschek-Bohmer and Gisela Schreiber. Or, if you are looking for a book that addresses magical properties and intentions, planetary and elemental rulers, and stone symbolism-as well as how to use stones for divination and spells-you'd be better off with Cunningham's Encyclopedia of Crystal, Gem, and Metal Magic by Scott Cunningham (which includes a 16 page insert of color photographs of over 100 crystals, stones, and metals.)

The Encyclopedia of Crystals ReviewI have many other books on crystals, including Judy Hall's Crystal Bible, and I must say I just fell in love when I saw this book. Right off the bat it was able to help me identify crystals I had purchased that were mislabeled by the shop. It had photo examples of almost every crystal in the book and some having multiple examples. The photos are beautiful and really helpful. What made me bring it home was I found crystals that can help children with ADHD, which my oldest son has. This is the first book I have found so far that covers it.
My only real complaint, like the other reviewer, is that the crystals are listed by colors. In actuality, it is probably a good thing as most other books are by name. You may not know the name of a particular crystal, but know its color. So you can search in that color section to hopefully find a photo resembling the crystal you have.
With each crystal it gives you the crystal system, chemistry, hardness, source (or origin), chakra, number, zodiac sign, planet, what it is beneficial for, and additional information of what the crystal is useful for. This is more for knowing the stones. If you are looking for a book where you can look up the crystal that meets your needs as far as ailments or any healing, I'd recommend Judy Hall's Crystal Prescriptions.
I would definitely recommend having this in your library for anyone interested in crystals and crystal healing.The Encyclopedia of Crystals Overview

The latest 101 Power Crystals is clear and concise; well displayed and information contained is right to the point!! She includes at the top left page: the Chakra correspondence, Physiological correspondence and the vibration of each stone. Information is also provided on the Legendary Power on individual stones; the Healing Power as well as the Transformational Power. Each crystal is displayed on a side page, black background with a short informational on Harnessing the Power under the picture. The photography of the crystals is beautiful and the black background paper will focus the readers attention right to the stone. I couldn't wait for this book to be released! I am very glad to have it in my Crystal Book collection!!
