DailyOM: Inspirational Thoughts for a Happy, Healthy, and Fulfilling Day ReviewI received the book early, and am reading a short section before starting each day. Such a tiny bit of time invested, only 3 or 4 minutes, and I am uplifted and have something thought provoking to contemplate. Surprisingly deep without seeming so, instructional without sounding preachy, and profoundly inspiring, Madisyn Taylor truly provides an easy little boost to the development of each of us and ultimately to humanity. What a joy to be able to enjoy the Daily Om before turning on the computer first.DailyOM: Inspirational Thoughts for a Happy, Healthy, and Fulfilling Day Overview

The Art of Spiritual Peacemaking: Secret Teachings from Jeshua ben Joseph ReviewI have studied "A Course in Miracles" for years, and in my opinion "The Art of Spiritual Peacemaking" is the bridge that I have been waiting for. I hesitate to call it the sequel to "A Course in Miracles", but it is the same information and practices put into more straightforward and understandable language. I am only on lesson 29 out of 365, but I can tell you that the insights that I have gained already have changed my life on a daily basis. I can't wait to get up the next morning and read the daily reading and lesson. The practices are simple yet profound when applying them to your day. I cannot recommend this book enough to those on the spiritual path of getting in touch with their soul and the only reality that will bring you true peace. It has helped me to forgive and to see myself as mistaken in the way I have been looking at the world instead of "guilty". For anyone who has stuggled with "A Course in Miracles" you will find this to be the bridge that you have been waiting for!The Art of Spiritual Peacemaking: Secret Teachings from Jeshua ben Joseph Overview

Anatomy of Desire: How to Be Happy Even When You Don't Get What You Want ReviewI love this little book! In "Anatomy of Desire," Gina Like explodes the popular cultural myth that desire fulfillment leads to happiness. In it she states that "while there is no freedom from desiring, because desiring will exist as long as we are human, it is possible to become free from needing our desires to be met." The practical information in this book demystifies desire and helped me to distinguish between the fear driven desires of the ego and the urges of essence. "Anatomy of Desire is an easy, quick read that has had a lasting impact on me. I highly recommend it along with all of Gina's other wonderful books.

DailyOM: Learning to Live ReviewWhile most of the information in Taylor's book is "golden rule" common sense, it is the type of information that we easily forget when we become consumed by a daily grind or rut. Reminding ourselves of our worth, our uniqueness, our ability to inspire drowns in our need to raise family and pay bills. Taylor's book is the antidote. It does not preach, brag, or condescend. Instead, it is full of necessary, yet compassionate daily reminders that can make you soar above the ruts and realize the ease and joy that life can hold. Highly recommended for self and to give as gifts.DailyOM: Learning to Live Overview

The Passion Test: The Effortless Path to Discovering Your Life Purpose ReviewPeople like to knock books like these because their ideas are perhaps too simple. My thinking, however, is just the opposite- all the good ideas that really work ARE simple.
To me, the biggest value of this book is that it can really help one get focused on their passions and the things they really want out of life- and few things are more important than that.
Sure you can reduce the book down to its simplest form of "make a list of your passions". But then again, weight loss can be reduced down to "eat less and exercise more" as well. Yes, that's a simple and effective solution, but I doubt most people will be successful with just that simple piece of advice alone. And THAT'S the real value of the book- it provides guidance on how to have a fulfilling life using a very simple idea.
Get this book if you feel like something's not quite right in your life and you need a change of direction- the book will help. Remember, you can't get what you want until you know WHAT you want. Readers might also be interested in The Wishing Well Test: Take the Test - Get Your Wish!. G-luck.

I Had It All the Time: When Self-Improvement Gives Way to Ecstasy ReviewTHE BOOK REVIEW:
The Good:
This book I highly reccommend. There isn't a book on the market in the self help genre that is better! I have been reading self help material for sixteen years and if I had this book my journey would have ended a long time ago. I have been soul searching for what feels like an eternity, trying zen buddhism, christianity, islam, kabbalah, and religions and philosophies that you probably haven't heard of. This book rescued me from co-dependency on other; books, techniques, and, the like, (it immediately helped me find myself). Today I am who I always wanted to be without trying to squeeze in someone elses tiny shoes. i.e , If into Zen, I would try to take on the whole lifestyle, reading of the books, ritual, and, follow the philosophies to the letter along with it.
....If you want to buy your last self help book then let this be it. Alan Cohen has given us an end all book. Whether you need money, a relationship, etc, this is your one stop shop. I promise you it will change your life for the better.
The Bad:
In a perfect world I would like this book to adhear to all religions. It favors christianity way too much(hence: references to a course in miracles throughout). However, I will admit it is the best self help book I have ever read. Christianity must be a "general accepted principle" amongst self help gurus.
Side Bar:
This book is the best kept secret (I didn't think there was a such thing) because (at the time of this writing)there are only ten reviews (it was published in 1994). It is a shame to have this book all to ourselves.
THE AUDIOS REVIEW:
I was fortunate enough to buy the audios on ebay for $2!!! Since I had already obtained the book for free I decided to get the audios, so, I would'nt have to read the book every time.
The Cons: The audios by themself have much left to be desired. Some of the stories from the book is not in the audios. The audios cut out my favorite story, (the one that is core to the book)!!! Another problem with these audios is Alan Cohen isn't who I thought he was. His voice is not someone I like to listen too (his voice is veeeery annoying). Also, when he speaks he talks on the audio as if he's reading a book to a classroom. If I had bought the audios without reading the book I would've returned or sold the tapes as soon as I had gotten them and would've been unimpressed with Mr. Cohen.
The Pro: I give the audio 3 stars only because the audio is a good compliment but, I repeat but, do not pay full price!!! Buy the audios from elsewhere only, only, as a compliment to the book,(that's if you feel you must have them that bad).I Had It All the Time: When Self-Improvement Gives Way to Ecstasy Overview

Wealth of Experience: Real Investors on What Works and What Doesn't ReviewThis book represents truth in advertising, it is exactly what the title and the book jacket claim it to be. The Vanguard Group, the world's second largest mutual fund company, conducted a detailed survey of six hundred of it's clients who had been successful enough investors to amass substantial wealth. From this survey it filtered and organized the information and insights which these investors provided into a comprehensive overview of how investors can maximize the probability of achieving their goals. While some readers may view this book as overly simple, it is in no way simplistic and in effect reinforces the importance of attributes of investment success that are often overlooked because of their apparent obviousness. It is an evcellent complement to the previous books published by Vanguard which were written by the current Chairman John Brennan and the previous chairman and often quoted champion of indexing, Jack Bogle.
In the interest of full disclosure and for the perspective of the readers of this review, I am an investment consultant and retired co-managing partner of an investment firm concentrating on the equity markets. Investing was my hobby early in life and I was fortunate enough after I changed careers to be successful doing something which I loved. I am also a long time Vanguard client utilizing their expertise in areas where my knowledge is limited, their low cost structure allows me to obtain excellent asset diversification in such areas as municipal bonds and Ginnie Mae securities. Finally, I am preparing to author a book on investments which I hope will appeal to I was interested in whether the lessons which the Vanguard respondents emphasized coincided with my beliefs.
This book is organized thematically, beginning with the importance of saving and developing investment goals and a plan to meet those goals. It then proceeds to a discussion of the importance of diversifcation, how to select your investments and how (and how often) to measure your progress and when it may be necessary to alter your course. It also discusses at length in a fair and balanced way the importance of low costs (a Vanguard advantage) and how to think about taxes. It briefly presents some thoughts on estate planning, not just for your heirs but as a broader legacy for future generations. And it concludes by summarizing "The Eight Commandments" for investment success and providing a useful glossary of the investment terms referenced in the book.
The structure and logical progression of the book make it exceedingly easy to read. Each chapter contains a discussion of the subject matter, often with explanatory charts or tables. There are usually quite extensive and interesting quotes from the participants in the survey, and then a concise summary provided by one of Vanguard's investment professionals. As a self taught individual investor, I was not surprised that I agreed with a lot of the advice (which in some cases goes against sophisticated Wall Street wisdom) and had shared a lot of the experiences included in the book. It emphasizes the basics heavily, especially the need to be patient and let the long term trend of the market and the power of compounding be your friend. And while such elements of investing as the necessity for diversifcation and the need to balance risk and reward seem obvious, they were lessons that even such successful investors as these often had to relearn after the extended bull market of the 1990's.
There are three aspects of this book about which I want to caution readers. First, as I have already mentioned, don't mistake it's simplicity for lack of acumen. However, it may be too elementary for those individuals with a lot of investment experience. E.g., it contains no specifics about choosing individual investments. Second, it attempts to help new investors learn from the mistakes of others, but does recognize that some of our most meaningful lessons inevitably come from our own mistakes. Thus, given the advanced average age of these investors, the lessons of this book may be difficult for young readers to internalize. Third and by far most important, while this is very useful advice, it doesn't reflect the full spectrum of methods and alternatives available to in order to become a successful individual investor. (As I and many others have done.) It stresses the factors which are important to Vanguard clients: low costs, index funds, broad asset class diversification and the usage of mutual funds as a core investment vehicle. These are all very valuable messages, but as the book specifically acknowledges they are just part of a broad range of alternatives that allow an individual investment success. Thus, the most important lesson of this book is clearly the importance of an investor's self evaluation: one's abilities, temperament, time priorities, risk tolerance, self confidence and ability and interest in continual self education. For me, investing is about continual learning, there is always some new and potentially profitable product, service or retailing technique; in addition, everything in the political economy impacts the markets. For others, such topics may be a collossal waste of time best left to the professionals. Reading this book should help you decide where you fit into that spectrum.Wealth of Experience: Real Investors on What Works and What Doesn't Overview

Intuitive Living: A Sacred Path ReviewI have read numerous books that deal with the subject of chakras, visualization, but this one definitely has something special! It is very non-dogmatic, and focuses on creating experiences that reconnect you with your spirit. I go back to it at times of inner struggle and reread some of the exercises as well as the chapter on the heart chakra. Then I massage the heart chakra spot with circular motions while reading and pretty soon I feel the uneasiness in me dissipate! It is a great way of letting go.
I definitely recommend this book.Intuitive Living: A Sacred Path Overview
