The Temple of High Witchcraft: Ceremonies, Spheres and The Witches' Qabalah (Penczak Temple Series) ReviewThis book is the fourth in a series on Witchcraft by Penczak. It follows a very similar layout to previous volumes. The first four chapters introductory reading, then thirteen lessons to be studied in a year and a day. The first lesson is basics, then one lesson for each sepherot (plus Da'ath), then ending with an initiation. The material on the Qabalah follows orthodox Golden Dawn teaching very closely. There us not much material on the 22 connecting paths nor on the Tarot. In fact it is remarkable how little information is conveyed in 500+ pages. Other writers cover much more in less space. But this is not necessarily a bad thing. For pagans unfamiliar with the Qabalah the conversational tone and lucid exposition is very helpful in learning what is, in my opinion, a dry and intellectual subject. All in all, I would say this book will be of interest mainly to those familiar with his three previous volumes. Ceremonial magicians will find it too elementary to be of much use. But for pagans who are curious about the Qabalah and how it could be incorporated it into their craft, it can be very useful. The Temple of High Witchcraft: Ceremonies, Spheres and The Witches' Qabalah (Penczak Temple Series) Overview

Pagan Spirituality: A Guide to Personal Transformation ReviewDid you know that there are different levels of spiritual development? I didn't until I read this book.
The initial chapters of this book explore the theories of Ken Wilber, a spirituality psychologist. His ideas are related to Pagan spiritual development in a way that the non-scientist can understand. The authors explain how a person progresses from infant to young adult and beyond the young adult stage into stages of more wisdom and self-reflection. The authors liken one's spiritual growth to the changes one goes through when going from helpless infant to someone who can run marathons.
In all there are nine developmental "spaces" and four different quadrants that readily conform to a Pagan world outlook. Joyce and River take the reader on a tour through each space and each quadrant with exercises, meditations and other activities.
The book is set up as a teaching guide, and would work best for a group situation, although the authors do include notes on how to make the contents work if you happen to be solitary, which a great many Pagans are.
Each chapter of the book is beautifully designed to make navigating through the book as easy as possible. Each chapter has section headings such as Questions to discuss, Exercise, My Journal, or Visualization. At the beginning of the book the reader is encouraged to create a spiritual progress map listing things that he or she wishes to accomplish in the coming year. The following chapters build on this map by returning to it and checking on progress toward the goals set forth in it. Each chapter builds on the lessons learned from the ones previous.
Chapters focus on different aspects of growth, both of the individual self and the way in which that individual interacts with the greater Pagan community, the mundane world and beyond to the spirit world. Chapter titles show what the reader can expect to find with such descriptions as Growth and Magick from the front end of the book to Energy Work from the back end of the book.
This book would be most useful to a shop that gives classes or a coven leader working with beginners that have progressed beyond the basic Wicca 101 level. It would also be a perfect workbook for a group of new seekers that are forming their own study group. Pagan Spirituality builds on the lessons and explanations found in the authors' first book, Paganism, and the authors suggest reviewing their previous work before tackling the projects of this one. I haven't read their first book, but on the basis of my reading of this one, I will at some point.
The only down side of the book for me was the repetitiveness of the various visualizations, but since each one builds on the last, I understand the reasoning behind the repetitions. If the reader were using the book as a lesson plan meant to encompass a year's study, this slight flaw most likely would become an attribute instead. This is a book I definitely recommend to anyone wishing to deepen their connection to the spiritual side of existence.

The Path of a Christian Witch ReviewI loved this book. It spoke straight to my heart. For quite some time now I've been trying to honor two paths that seemed impossible to reconcile with one another. I wanted desperately to be able to express my love of Catholicism and my Pagan path together as one cohesive whole. This was always a challenge as my Christian friends feared Paganism and my Pagan friends vehemently were opposed to anything hinting of Christianity. I felt all alone, and then I found this book. Part journal, part instruction manual, Ms. St. Clair has managed to do an amazing feat and bring together two very different spirtual traditions and meld them into a working path. I highly recommend this book to anyone who wishes a way to bring Christianity and Witchcraft together. The Path of a Christian Witch Overview

The Sacred Path Workbook: New Teachings and Tools to Illuminate Your Personal Journey ReviewThis workbook is an invaluable asset to be
used with the Sacred Path Cards and companion
book. It further delineates the individual
applications of each card. I have utilized the
workbook more than the companion book, because
it easily highlights each card's attributes
and the challenges presented.

The workbook serves as a tool for
further understanding by encouraging one to
document their progress. By noting progress
over time, emerging patterns are easily
delineated.

The workbook is divided into six sections:
each card's individual application; new
spreads; using the cards to contact the
ancestors in spirit; unique methods of
combining the Sacred Path and Medicine cards;
using both decks to find deeper meaning
toward self-understanding; and workbook pages
for personal journaling and essaying.

This workbook is a must-have companion to the
Sacred Path cards and book.

Crystal Therapy: How to Heal and Empower Your Life with Crystal Energy Review"We believe that the interest in crystals is resurging as part of the spiritual renaissance and the ascension process we're all undergoing...This is a critical time in our history, and it's imperative that we create harmonious change." --Doreen Virtue, Ph.D., and Judith Lukomski
Crystals and gemstones-with their gorgeous colors, prismatic points, and variety of shapes and facets-have long delighted humankind. Civilizations both ancient and modern have used crystals and stones for jewelry, talismans, and home ornamentation. In addition to these uses, crystals have also been a part of sacred ceremonies, prayer, meditation, and healing.
Using a process called piezoelectricity, crystals serve as powerful energy conductors and amplifiers. Crystals are used in watches, radios, and other electronic devices and crystal sensors are even used in hospitals for diagnostic and healing work.
Because crystals amplify and conduct energy, they serve as excellent channels of Divine light and healing intention. In addition to human intention, the formation and color of crystals also contribute to specific healing properties.
In the new book Crystal Therapy - How to Heal and Empower Your Life with Crystal Energy authors Doreen Virtue and Judith Lukomski share their wisdom of "crystal friends", and how these elemental beings are the offspring of Heaven and Earth's marriage. A gift from Gaia-the spirit of our planet-these healing stones are available for healing, grounding, and supporting virtually any area of life. Whether you seek to heal an animal, meditate for world peace, attract abundance, or ameliorate dis-ease, crystals and stones are valuable allies.
The authors provide an introduction to crystal therapy, an overview of the four ways in which crystal deposits are formed, and an explanation of how crystalline structures reflect the sacred geometry of Platonic Solids. Putting crystal therapy in practice through intention and methods such as chakra balancing, angelic communication, astral travel and Feng Shui are also explained, as well as the purpose and character of 15 archangels. Other fascinating elements covered in Crystal Therapy include crystal selection and care (including cleansing and charging), and how to create eleven different crystal grids as an energetic framework for purposes such as world peace, healing, creativity and sleep.
When using clear quartz for healing, practitioners often use jargon to describe the various characteristics of the stone. The authors explain this terminology, and pictures of each are provided. These include phantoms, record keepers, generators, double terminated, manifestation, time links, and others.
The bulk of Crystal Therapy, however, is a directory of over 90 crystals outlining their healing properties, color/s, pronunciation, and the archangel/s associated with each. In addition to a channeled message from each of the stones, color photographs of most crystals are provided.
At 220 pages, Crystal Therapy is a solid contribution to the field of crystal healing--especially for those interested in angels and crystal channeling.
If, however, you are interested in crystal properties such as chemical compositions, hardness, and extensive astrological correlations-as well as the history and legend of over 140 stones and crystals accompanied by large, color photographs-I'd recommend Healing Crystals and Gemstones - From Amethyst to Zircon by Dr. Flora Peschek-Bohmer and Gisela Schreiber. Or, if you are looking for a book that addresses magical properties and intentions, planetary and elemental rulers, and stone symbolism-as well as how to use stones for divination and spells-you'd be better off with Cunningham's Encyclopedia of Crystal, Gem, and Metal Magic by Scott Cunningham (which includes a 16 page insert of color photographs of over 100 crystals, stones, and metals.)

The Twelve Wild Swans: A Journey to the Realm of Magic, Healing, and Action Review...Well, sort of. No late night howling at the moon or camp songs, but this book is organized in a way analogous to camp. There are excellent tools in this book, for beginners to advanced Witches. In fact, I think it is one of the few books really suited for the intermediate to advanced Witch. This book could sustain one's personal work for quite a long time, if needed.
I do find it interesting to read the comments of the reviewer who mentioned the "rabid feminism." I certainly don't perceive this book to be that way. In meeting Starhawk and reading her work, I've never percieved her as a "rabid" feminist or man-hater... interesting how some men think anyone who uses "she" and "her" instead of "he" and "him" as generic pronouns is rabid. I've been putting up with books with a generic male audience my entire life! I guess I'm not really sure why some men are so offended by the book addressing a generic female audience instead.
I believe this book is an incredible, valuable addition to the available literature on Witchcraft, and I strongly recommend it, both to women and (secure) men. ;-)
Blessed be!The Twelve Wild Swans: A Journey to the Realm of Magic, Healing, and Action Overview
