How Women Help Men Find God ReviewI read this book immediately after reading Murrow's previous book on the same topic, Why Men Hate Going to Church.
His message was great, and I recommend it to every believer. You can read the other glowing reviews as to why.
But let me add one recommendation:
You do not need to by BOTH books. 75% (or more) of the content of How Women Help Men Find God is a repeat of the information already presented in Why Men Hate Going To Church. There are a few additional tidbits that would be practical for an individual woman to help the men in her life find God, so if that is you, buy THAT one instead.
I would encourage you to thoughtfully read what David Murrow has to say, but only buy one book or the other, not both!How Women Help Men Find God Overview

God Is More Than Enough (LifeChange Books) ReviewFirst, the title of the book caught my eye because YES I know it is true - that God is more than enough. So at first look all I knew was the title of the book which made me like and desire it. Then once I received the book I came to realize that it was a book by best selling author and Pastor Tony Evans concerning Psalm 23.
The book itself is small in size as well as in the number of pages - 90 plus the extra pages every book always has. But this is no small book when it comes to delivering the message that God is more than ENOUGH. This book speaks volumes when it comes to the matter of addressing the sufficiency of God for the life of every believer.
In Chapter 1 of the book, Pastor Evans asks, "Just Who Is Your Shepherd?" And right from the beginning of the book in the first chapter he starts hammering hard at our hardened self-sufficient, self-serving hearts...who is our Shepherd? And he makes the point that many of us claim Jesus as our Savior, but then asks us is he our Shepherd? This is convicting territory and the spiritual waters can get pretty rough if you have just been dabbling in Christianity; I mean you are living the "a little bit of Jesus goes a long way," or "just a little dab" of Jesus over our sinful lives and we are good to go kind of Christian life. Well, Pastor Evans is not going to tread lightly concerning this matter because he is right...we need to know who our Savior, Lord and Shepherd are...when life is going good as well as when it is not.
In Chapter 2 Pastor Evans writes about the fact that "GOD is More Than ENOUGH to Meet All of our Spiritual Needs." Every single one of them! He states that "God wants to give us back our soul," or as he refers to it, our personhood. I like that. Amen! I needed to be reminded of that. Jesus has given us back our soul...our personhood back and he can and will meet all of our spiritual needs as the Shepherd of our person.
In Chapter 3 he writes about the fact that GOD is "more than ENOUGH to Meet Our Directional Needs." God wants to be our "spiritual tour guide" as he refers respectfully to God, on our pilgrimage through this world. In Chapter 4 Pastor Evans writes about how GOD is "more than ENOUGH to Meet Our Emotional Needs." He makes the statement about God, "when he's all you have, he's all you need." Now that is powerful. Think on that statement for a while. In Chapter 5 author Evans shares that GOD is "more than ENOUGH to Meet Our Physical Needs." He refers to him as a "good provider." I don't know what your experience with God has been; however, I have found that what Pastor Evans writes is true. Many times I have failed GOD but he has NEVER once failed me. Not ever! Who else in this universe can we say that about for our lives? And Chapter 6 he writes about what is very dear to my heart and that is that GOD is "more than ENOUGH to Meet Our Eternal Needs." He refers to our position as "sure and secure" for all eternity as we "shall dwell in the House of the LORD forever." (Psalm 23:6) And it does not get any better than that.
So, God...our God...our Shepherd IS "more Than ENOUGH to Meet ALL of our Needs" if we will only but get out of his way and out of our own way...(sometimes we are our own worst enemy getting in God's way and our own- the devil and his spiritual cohorts needs do nothing because we are more than ready and happy to mess things up on our own), and live for him by faith and just let him be who and what he wants to be in our lives...and that is our Shepherd.

My husband and I have been married for thirty years, and we have run the gamut of emotions and experiences as lovers and best friends in that span of time. We want to continue to grow in our relationship and David Deida's book is about the intimate communion we all want in our relationships. I dare to say, as I read this book, and watch the news or an "intelligent" talk show about relationships, I see how David Deida's insights could make a difference in understanding and moving FORWARD to resolving the male/female issues in our culture. Oprah, here he comes - a man with tremendous and unusual insights, teaching us how to live in true harmony with the sexes! This book (as well as his other books) truly and deeply respects the feminine as much as the masculine. The points are well-made while honoring and UNDERSTANDING men and women. The combination of bible verse, meditation and prayer is excellent and I've had good feedback from everyone that comes. Getting to 'I Do' ReviewA friend of mine is always encouraging me to go for what "cooks me". Well this book cooked me.
First off, I am a guy and this book is definitely written to the female audience. So I had to keep transposing and interpreting as I went along. As I read it I found that I was having all kinds of reactions ranging from HECK NO! to DARN RIGHT!
One of my first reactions was to a subheading in the first chapter DO YOU WANT IT ALL, OR ARE YOU WILLING TO COMPROMIXE TO GET HIM? that really pushed my buttons because one of the issues that I am working on in my life is not settling.
What kept me going through the book were the examples and how many were true for my life. One of the best insights in the book for me was that rejecting someone can be an act of love. The author advocates either accepting or rejecting someone, both are acts of love. What is not an act of love is to tolerate someone.
I think that many of my concerns with the book could have been alleviated if the material in the chapter FOR THE REST OF OUR LIVES, which is at the end of the book, would have been placed at the beginning. For me, it sets the context in which the rest of the book is written rather than being a summary. It directly addresses many of the concerns that I had as I read the rest of the book.
There is much of value in here, and even though it is written for women and I don't agree with everything in the book, I'd recommend it to anyone interested in improving relationships in their life simply because it is so thought-provoking.Getting to 'I Do' Overview

Ten Stupid Things Men Do to Mess Up Their Lives ReviewI'm 17 years old and found this book in my parents' bedroom last night. My parents are out of town, so I propped myself up with a pillow and began reading it on their bed.
By the time I finished it was four-thirty in the morning, and I wasn't tired. What a book! I'm still a teenager, one who doesn't date, do drugs, have sex, drink, watch porno, etc, and even though this book was intended for men, adult men who have grown up and entered the working force and the world of realtionships and sex, I found it deeply insightful and clear. Dr. Laura lays morality on the table in an effective and entertaining way, and it makes sense, which is the problem with most messages coming from either side, the right or the left. She explains the workings of the male, and female minds and how they are different, and how they are the same, as well as the monumental difference between being male and being a man. She talks about self control and how having it can not only bring you respect, it can bring you true, healthy relationships, and she defines how to be an equal partner in marriage, a real equal partner, not the liberal feminist definition of equal partnership.
Five stars, an excellent book for the moral minded, and for the not so moral minded, who want to know what morals are.Ten Stupid Things Men Do to Mess Up Their Lives Overview
