The Lady, Her Lover, and Her Lord ReviewOnce again, Bishop Jakes has spent time talking with God and relaying it as only he can and in such a way that all can relate and understand. This books looks into the hearts and soul of many women, including myself. Healing is what it's all about...learning how to get beyond and to really be free from those things that hinder us from going forth in this world. Bishop shows us how to balance our lives and achieve this inner peace that we all long for.
I am not married but this book showed me how we as women should treat our husbands. At this point in my life, God is my husband and my Lord. I have learned how to worship and adore God as I would the mate that he will bring into my life. That book is an encouragement in itself in that Bishop Jakes tells us that we can have it all spiritually and emotionally.
I recommend this book to any woman who has a desire to grow and to really know what it means to be whole. I would also encourage all women to attend the Woman, Thou Art Loosed seminar in July. Last year it was breathtaking. This book really follows behind that whole seminar. I thank God for using Bishop Jakes in such a way. Bishop really has a deep compassion for women and for that I am thankful.

Finding Your Way Home: A Soul Survival Kit ReviewI've read many of Ms. Beattie's books before. Her candor is her greatest strength. In this book, she explores being human and believing in God. It is a very refreshing viewpoint. There is no psycho-babble. Some of it is a bit new-agey but overall, it is very practical. It touched on many issues I still deal with even though I've been out of a abusive & alcoholic family for 11 years. The work she recommends and the affirmations make me feel like I can take care of myself w/o therapy or self-help books. I realized I am not alone in my struggles. Ms. Beattie's forthrightness and conversational style lend to the intimacy of the book. When she shares her difficult moments and her associated comments, it is comforting to realize that our own experiences and related emotions are more normal that society would have have us believe. I especially enjoy her "walk with God" approach. It is that mindfulness that has inspired me the most.Finding Your Way Home: A Soul Survival Kit Overview

Each page is like a gentle hug, as her words breathe life from the precious promises of the Bible.
The book is arranged around fifty-two themes, which encourages daily reading for a year. However, the author's sensitivity to sorrow has led her not to include days of the week or dates with each section. She realizes that grief has no timetable and therefore her words may be read slowly or with greater urgency, depending on the individual
There is a gradual progression in these pages, as the first theme acknowledges the brokenhearted and the last entry is on letting go. Throughout the book, the reader will come face to face with different aspects of the healing process while their attention is always directed toward a vibrant hope in God.

God's Promises for Women ReviewI'd had this book for several months before I picked it up and opened it during my daily quiet time one morning. Being a "Bible snob" I was very surprised that it ministered to me in a very real way. Since then, I've used it often, along with my Bible in my daily time of prayer and meditation. The scriptures that are selected are ones we've all heard and love and sometimes spend alot of time looking for. But, open the book, and here they all are. It is one of my favorites now.
