My Grandmother Is ... Praying for Me ReviewThis book is truly a sweet blessing for anyone with grandchildren! Each month is designated a specific character quality (i.e. January - Faithfulness, July - Integrity)and the daily devotions are short, yet rich in wisdom and thoughtfulness - much like the book of Proverbs, on which the devotions are based. Following each devotion is an application meant to stimulate further discussion between grandmothers and their precious grandchildren. This is especially helpful, because it helps "put flesh" on the scripture verse in a way that a little one (or a big one) can understand. Although I am not a grandmother, I am so thrilled to know that my children have two godly grandmothers praying through this wonderful book! I have passed on several copies as gifts so that others can be equally blessed and I cannot recommend this book highly enough! My Grandmother Is ... Praying for Me Overview

Zombie Church: Breathing Life Back into the Body of Christ ReviewI chose to review Zombie Church mainly out of curiosity. I wasn't familiar with the author, Tyler Edwards (the lead minister of Cornerstone Christian Church in Joplin, Missouri). I was somewhat skeptical about the premise of the book. This could either be done very well, or just be lame.
It was not lame.
I try not to mark or write in books anymore, in case someone else wants to read it. I don't want my marks to be a distraction. However, from the very first page, I found myself wanting to write. And mark. And highlight. Just about everything. I eventually did mark some, but realized I was basically just highlighting everything, so I stopped again. Practically everything Edwards wrote was like a zinger popping off of the page, For example:
Following God does not mean we live without consequences or that those consequences will always be good. When you take a stand for Jesus, you might lose your job, you might lose friends, you might alienate your family, and one day you might even be beaten or thrown in prison. You even might die. The faith hall of fame in Hebrews 11 tells the stories of men and women who were miraculously rescued from death. This is to set the standard for our faith, however, not the standard for God's response. (page 37)
I think that God is bored with the petty faith of our American churches. When is the last time we did something that would require God to act? When is the last time our churches stepped out in faith to do something so big, we would need God to be a part of it? I'm not saying we haven't done anything. We have accomplished some great things, but for a nation of "Christian" people and two hundred years of working at it, you would think we would have accomplished a lot more (page 151).
Zombie Church is convicting, and relevant, and good. It was also very interesting. The whole zombie angle was done well, and I can think of several friends that would be interested in this book for that fact alone. Edwards took truths and concepts that are widely known in some religious circles, and expanded them to include and engage a whole new subculture.
Disclaimer: I received a complementary copy of this book from Kregel Publications as part of a Litfuse blog tour. No other compensation was received.

Little Voice Mastery: How to Win the War Between Your Ears in 30 Seconds or Less and Have an Extraordinary Life ReviewTalent, power, and resources will only take you so far. For most of the people I've met (including myself) we simply don't have enough talent to win on talent alone. It takes something more.
Little Voice Mastery is that secret weapon that when applied allows you to unlock the champion inside of yourself. It is not motivational hype or pop-psychobable. Little Voice Mastery is a very specific and simple to apply series of technologies for taking control of your own brain #immediately) and then training yourself to perform your best when it matters most. These are tools that have proven themselves over and over again in every culture and language on the planet.
I must admit, the Little Voice Mastery technologies are deceptively straight-forward, but you would be foolish to dismiss them before you've applied them over a meaningful amount of time.
In my own case, using Blair Singer's Little Voice Mastery guidance I took my training and coaching company from just a handlful of offices around North America to over 70+ offices in 9 countries in less than 24 months. You can easily believe my Little Voice was going nuts along the way, but with Little Voice Mastery it was like having Blair with me the whole way coaching me through every obstacle.
If you're tired of "positive think" garbage and you really want some practical truth to help you take control of your life, future, and destiny then this is the resource for you. If you want a guide on this journey that is authentic, relevant, and poignently direct about what it takes, then there is no one more quaified than Blair Singer to guide you.Little Voice Mastery: How to Win the War Between Your Ears in 30 Seconds or Less and Have an Extraordinary Life Overview

Is This Seat Taken: Random Encounters That Change Your Life ReviewI thoroughly enjoyed `Is This Seat Taken?' and getting to know Kristin through her stories. She gives power and importance to everyday encounters. It's true: You never know who you may be sitting next to - a future spouse, a new job opportunity, the next big idea or even a moment of clarity in a hectic day. From Kristin's guidance, I've learned it's important to live each day in the moment and not worry about what's behind or ahead of me. Kristin is just as much a treasure in her first book as she is in person. Is This Seat Taken: Random Encounters That Change Your Life Overview

Healing Through the Akashic Records ReviewThere is something extremely comforting about Linda Howe's writing style because it is simultaneously down-to-earth and out of this world! Her first book, How to Read the Akashic Records, was a very useful how-to book, but this is a book that breaks new ground in the area of healing our sacred wounds. This isn't about healing that pesky pain in your knee or ending your migraine headaches, although I can imagine that the exercises in the book could help make those things happen.
Even more important, the message here is that every mistake and every roadblock we encounter is simply our human experience. Our soul is perfect no matter what happens. Our soul cannot be imperfect.
It's always bothered me to think that somehow pain was punishment. Even in The Secret, the message is that we bring dis-ease upon ourselves because we aren't positive enough or we are attracting pain or sickness to ourselves. There is an underlying value judgement that pain and sickness are bad, and Linda Howe shifts that idea to help us see that pain and sickness are simply human. And perfectly okay.
I love this book and I love these fresh new ideas.Healing Through the Akashic Records Overview

Living with Joy: Keys to Personal Power and Spiritual Transformation (Earth Life Series) ReviewIncredibly profound in content.
Having gone through the whole "Conversations With God" (CWG) series as well as "Friendship with God", I wondered how this book would compare in principle--and I'm happy to say quite favorably. It seems truth IS universal, despite varying styles.
Whereas CWG was mind-blowing in it's eloquence, "Living With Joy" seemed almost child-like in it's gentle manner. Like a patient teacher, it takes your hand and walks you through precisely what it means to live a life based on joy. And what a delightful, refreshing, thought-provoking and ultimately life-changing stroll it is.
I especially liked Orin's admonition to take what he says and use what resonates for you, personally, and leave the rest behind. A good principle, I feel, when reading anything pertaining to our individual growth paths. Having said that, I found that almost all of it resonated with me, deeply and profoundly. You may, too.
Read it for the light it can bring. Live it for the positive changes it can invoke. Love it for the joy we can all share and partake of. Highly recommended.Living with Joy: Keys to Personal Power and Spiritual Transformation (Earth Life Series) Overview

The God I Never Knew: How Real Friendship with the Holy Spirit Can Change Your Life ReviewPastor Robert Morris adds to growing library of works about the often misunderstood and sometimes forgotten third member of the Holy Trinity. This book is his attempt to clear away some of the mystery and confusion that surrounds God in this person. This volume succeeds wildly on one level, but struggles to find its footing on another.
The first half of the book having to do with the reality of the Holy Spirit and His work is a good addition to the growing attention the Spirit is receiving. It is scriptural and doctrinal, and does a superior job of presenting the reality of the Spirit to a church that is desperately in need of an outpouring of the Spirit's power. In addition to the fine explication, Morris applies the truths to our daily lives in way that makes us desire more and more of the Spirit.
Sadly, the second part of the book doesn't hold up the expectations set out in the first. After adhering close to the Evangelical median in his discussion of the reality and work of the Spirit, Morris tips into a scattered series of chapters about separate Baptisms in the Spirit and the miraculous gifts. An extensive presentation of these topics is beneficial to have, but the way in which the author strikes, fires off an anecdote and then moves on is less than satisfying.
Inconsistency aside, The God I Never Knew can serve as a fine introduction to the Spirit or a reminder of the power that He brings to the believer. Some will find the theological diversions unnerving, but understanding the doctrines contributes to the growth of all Christians.

Recipes for Life: My Memories ReviewHollywood memoirs are a dime a dozen, some salacious, some introspective. Linda Evans, who has been on the radar since her days as ingenue Audra Barkley on TV's The Big Valley in the 1960's, has written a unique memoir titled Recipes for Life: My Memories, that incorporates her love of cooking with her tales of living and working in Hollywood.
I was a big fan of The Big Valley and later Dynasty, which was a monster hit in the 1980s, and always thought that Evans was not only beautiful but also talented. This delightful book has fifty recipes interspersed throughout the book, along with many photos and memories.
She begins the book with her childhood, and includes a fantastic photo of her parents who were professional ballroom dancers in the early 1940s. When times were tough, her mother made Hot Dog Stew, the first recipe in the book. (It's actually two recipes, as she shares her version and her sister's version.)
Evans' memories of her co-star Barbara Stanwyck enthralled me, as I am a fan. Stanwyck was a big star, and she gave much advice to the young Evans during their Big Valley days, in her inimitable way, as only she could do. Evans shares a recipe she created called Missy's Hobo Fillet, based on Chasen's Hobo Steak, a Stanwyck favorite. I'm definitely going to try this one.
John Derek was Evans' first big love, and she was devastated when he left her for 15 year-old Mary Cathleen Collins, soon to be known to the world as Bo Derek. Evans had many romances after that, and they are recounted here with stories and photos, along with recipes from parties she hosted and attended. There are many recipes from friends; whenever she ate something she liked, Evans always asked for the recipes, including three from John Wayne himself.
She shares memories of famous friends and colleagues, like Steve McQueen, Richard Burton, and a long time friendship with David Janssen of TV's The Fugitive, along with wonderful spontaneous photos of them at parties.
Evans' made a lifelong friend, Bunky, who eventually became her assistant and traveled with her on jobs around the world. Bunky is quite a character, and brought out the silly side in the usually reticent Evans.
One of the unique things that I remember about Evans is her friendship with John Derek's ex-wives. Ursula Andress, Bo Derek, first wife Pati and her daughter Sean, and Evans all became good friends, and spent a lot of time together, even celebrating his birthday all together.
The Dynasty days are covered, and Evans and screen hubby John Forsythe became good friends. Evans spent a lot of time with John and his wife, dining and vacationing together. She does address the Rock Hudson issue. He was guesting on Dynasty as a love interest for Evans, and was reticent to kiss her in a big scene. Soon she found out it was because he had AIDS. Reading her recollection of the story illuminates the feelings of that not-so-long-ago era.
This is a terrific way to write a memoir; Evans loves to cook (she even finished first on Hell's Kitchen, a London TV cooking competition show) and so wrapping her memories around recipes and fabulous photos is a natural. She shares her own recipes, and recipes of famous chefs like Julia Child and Barefoot Contessa Ina Garten, and many of them sound mouthwateringly delicious. The book is so beautiful, I will have to take care when using it in the kitchen; I don't want to get anything on the pages!
Recipes for Life is a great gift for anyone who loves Linda Evans, as well as anyone who enjoys cooking. Some of the recipes are definitely challenging, but there are some simpler ones in there as well. It reminds me of Paula Deen's autobiography from a few years back- a fascinating life remembered in recipes.Recipes for Life: My Memories Overview

Love, God, And The Art Of French Cooking ReviewIf you applaud books on spirituality which are fun and light, yet profound, you may appreciate this book. If you believe that conversing about God shouldn't be heavy and pious, the French chef in this book would agree with you.
We all need to find our medium or passion in life as a means to experience joy, discern our purpose and contribute meaningfully to others. The author of this book, James Twyman, stumbled upon Chef Roger Dufau who uses food and cooking as a medium to teach spiritual and life lessons to reach and comfort people. It's Biblically-based as Chef Dufau notes as Jesus used the Last Supper to teach his disciples. Jesus's admonition to feed the hungry is equally paired with his admonitions to heal the sick and comfort the grieving.
When a romantic weekend went awry for Twyman at Chef Dufau's Bed & Breakfast outside Toronto, Chef Dufau's sensitivity intuits Twyman can use some care. Twyman's talks and meals with the Chef compel Twyman to examine his life history, motivations and MO in dealing with others. The author is candid with readers about his flaws and vulnerabilities. We can identify with and learn through his exchanges with Chef Dufau. They even travel to Paris for a luxurious master class with French Chef Alain Dutournier who, at the very least, teaches them about the power of generosity.
A favorite lesson in the book was the lesson of the garlic; sometimes we have to be smashed open like garlic to get at our essence or heart. Haven't we all experienced our orderly life getting smashed to bits which causes us to get humble and quit trying to control or manipulate outcomes? (I've been smashing my garlic ever since reading this, instead of slicing it. It's messier, but more pungent as the chef teaches.) Are we willing to let our lives get messy to learn more about our purpose, or find and follow a new direction?
Another favorite cooking lesson is doing more with fewer ingredients. We often think more in life is more. But as in cooking, the truly great recipes sometimes use fewer core ingredients so you can taste their essence. As in life--what do we need and have that really matters? What is essential for our growth and happiness?
This is a light, whimsical book with deep undercurrents. It may cause you to reflect upon your own life. More books on spirituality which don't preach at you, or make you feel guilty, but teach joyously and creatively as this one does are welcome. As Jesus did with his parables--what a delightful way to learn! This reminds me of a spiritual fable of sorts. Readers who like to read about love, God and French cooking will enjoy this spiritual triangle. Upon finishing this book you may want to make reservations at Chef Dufau's B & B for another course. I did.Love, God, And The Art Of French Cooking Overview

The Greener Grass Conspiracy: Finding Contentment on Your Side of the Fence ReviewRecently, Crossway was gracious enough to send me (and 99 other bloggers like me) a copy of one of their new books, The Greener Grass Conspiracy by Stephen Altrogge. I had never heard of Altrogge, but I trusted Crossway, they haven't let me down yet. A few days ago, the small cardboard box with `Crossway' packing tape was sitting in my mailbox, so I started reading, not knowing what to expect.
What I got was a feast for my soul (more on that later). Altrogge writes of a worldwide conspiracy that is keeping the world (and Christians in particular) in bondage. He calls this "The Greener Grass Conspiracy", essentially a plot between ourselves, Satan and the fallen world we live in to keep us from finding contentment in Jesus. Altrogge starts off and convincingly lays out the conspiracy and the players:
"The world makes big, fat promises of immediate pleasure. It flashes its artificially whitened teeth and tells me to enjoy myself. The world lies to me....Satan Joins the world... Satan invites me to find satisfaction in something other than God. It doesn't matter if it's pornography or community service, as long as it's not God. Satan is happy as long as I'm not happy in God. Satan slanders God's character and his goodness. Satan Lies to me. ....My heart doesn't want to be left out of the conspiracy, and so it plays right along with the world and Satan. It tells me that I need to have certain things and I need to have them NOW." (p.12-13)
Altrogge writes with urgency and zeal to uncover and unravel this conspiracy. Stephen is well aware of the Spiritual War we are caught up in, that is "an all-out, no-holds-barred war taking place within us" (p.50). He writes as equal, a fellow brother struggling with the same three enemies aiming to take away his joy as well as ours. His book is practical, honest and pointed, Altrogge says "The Greener Grass Conspiracy" is "more like sweaty, bloody, hastily scribbled notes from a battlefield" than "the memoir of a contented man"(P.14). As you read, you easily connect with Stephen, his honest real life stories, and his imperfect yet mature walk with Jesus. Oh, and did mention, he is absolutely hilarious! I was getting some odd looks reading this book in public because I would laugh out loud somewhat frequently.
Like I said before, this book was a feast for my soul. In the footsteps of giants on the subject of contentment like The Rare Jewel of Christian Contentment by Jeremiah Burroughs and Spiritual Depression by D. Martyn Lloyd Jones, this book holds a mirror up to our fig-leaves and idols then gently, yet usually painfully points you back to the One who removes our fig-leaves and killed our idols on the Cross, Jesus. Sometimes when I was reading, I wanted to hang my head and weep, as I saw how ugly my sin was (in the midst of his very sarcastic, Jared Wilson-esque sense of humor). Especially in the fourth chapter, "I worship my television", which can be adequately summed up by Altrogge's final words of the chapter:
"But the sweet fruit of contentment can only blossom after you've ripped out the weeds" (P.44)
Altrogge points out both how we get wrapped up in the Conspiracy in both our religion and irreligion, and takes a hard, Gospel-centered line towards both. He urges and pleads with us to find our joy in Jesus, as he fights to do the same. This book is rich in scripture and quotes from dead guys, but it never comes off intimidating or academic but very, very practical. And it's overflowing with proclamations of the gospel, you cannot read this book without being forcefully shoved back to the Gospel of Jesus. It all at the same time wrecks and builds up the soul, purging sin for revelation of the Gospel. Altrogge brings it:
"The Father heaped the idolatry of millions upon Jesus and then punished Jesus as if he was the idol worshiper. It was as if Jesus was the pornography worshiper, job worshiper and vacation worshiper. Ever seen something so disturbing and revolting that you couldn't bear to watch? On the cross, Jesus was worse."(P.61)
The shocking honesty, undeniable wit (including a brief encounter with the King Solomon at Starbucks), amazing readability and Gospelicious nature of "The Greener Grass Conspiracy" have made it one of my new favorite books. I do not say this lightly, as I am pretty critical on books. And by all means, the book wasn't perfect, in fact, I wish it was a bit longer and I wish it dealt more with contentment within the context of Community (it does a bit, but that is a subject I am very interested in). But regardless, it is a Gospel tour-de-force.
One of the best features of "The Greener Grass Conspiracy" was the "Stop-Think-Do" questions at the end of each chapter. These are 5 questions at the end of each chapter that relate back to the content of the chapter, these questions are sometimes hard to answer and don't always let you off the hook with just pondering for a minute and moving on. Altrogge asks the reader to make painful lists, draw graphs and write down gospel-blessings, it's pretty sweet, but your pride will HATE it...."The Greener Grass Conspiracy" is not only good for personal devotions, but as curriculum as well (especially because of its easy readability and study questions provided in the form of the Stop-Think-Do). I am already thinking about ordering several more copies and using them in a small group study for some newer believers.
But at the end of a day, a book of Jesus is not good unless it stirs my affection for Jesus. This book certainly did, it encouraged me and turned my affections toward Jesus like books before it, such as Lloyd-Jones's "Spiritual Depression and Piper's Desiring God have done for me. This is a book for the trenches of Christian living, a book that grips you, pleads with you and asks you to look to the Gospel and say "Courage, dear heart"(P.127). For Christian's, I can not recommend this enough, and for non-Christians, if you are interested in Christianity, this is a great book to pick up to learn what the Christian life is all about: Jesus Christ.

Spiritual Quest: A Guide to the Changing Landscape ReviewSpiritual Quest is an excellent survey of current reflections on the spiritual life as well as a superb guide for personal spiritual growth. Hart clearly points to the Mystery in life, always respectful of the ultimate reality that we can never capture God/Mystery in words. He points to the Mystery with insights that move us in the direction of greater knowledge and appreciation of a God who is with us and for us.
Using quotes and references from thologians, poets, playwrights and "ordinary people", Hart illustrates one salient point after another as he guides us through the sometimes bewildering world of living life spiritually. The chapters on God and Jesus eliminate verbage that often interferes with a relationship with the Mystery. In place of excessive verbage, pious pronoucements, and wishful theologizing, he offers clear, personal, emotive descriptions of the real search for God and Jesus.
His chapter on the principles of spirituality deliver on the subtitle of his book: they guide us through the changing landscape of spirituality. In one chapter, he applies his insights and principles to sexuality and the result is a liberating and balanced approach to the beauty of sexual expression.
This book is a "must read" for all people who teach or seek a deeper experience of spirituality.Spiritual Quest: A Guide to the Changing Landscape Overview

Immersion: Live the Life God Envisioned for you. ReviewAs a Christian I so appreciate the "This is not about religion..." but about making yourself jump into a full relationship with God like Mark had to do on the ferry at Alcatrez.
As a therapist, I appreciate the perspective of "SEA" and serving to make one's life better.
As a triathlete, I challenge Mark to a world's slowest kick contest.
A great, practical, and motivating read on how to truly become immersed in God (and not religion).Immersion: Live the Life God Envisioned for you. Overview

Shift Happens: How to Live an Inspired Life...Starting Right Now ReviewIn the movie Jerry Mcguire the characters played by Renee Zeilweiger and Tom Cruise have an on and off romance. "You had me at hello," is the most well known line in that film from Zeilweiger, when the Cruise character comes back to reconcile their relationship.
I thought of that line when reading Shift Happens! How to Live an Inspired Life ... Right Now! by Robert Holden. Early in the book Holden writes ""If your God is not a God of unconditional love, get another God!" The unconditional Love of God is the basis of my spirituality, and when I read this line I thought "this book is going to be good!" Holden had me. Throughout Shift Happens Holden returns to this theme often, calling this love "your Unconditioned Self".
Shift Happens! is a work to savor. The book consists of 55 short three to four page chapters ranging in topics from "There is nothing wrong with you" to "Get off your 'yeah but'". I really liked this format. It took me almost two months to finish Shift Happens but that's because each chapter stands on its own. I took Holden's inspirational writing in small doses - reading one chapter each day. This is not a book to rush through.
As a person who relishes reading books about spirituality and self improvement, this passage spoke to me:
"Many times I have watched people use self improvement as a covert form of self-attack--heavily laced with self-criticism, self-loathing, and a denial of wholeness," Holden writes. "Self-improvement often starts with a perception of lack (i.e., I am not good enough, I am not okay yet, etc.). Unless this perception of lack is changed, you always end up where you started, in lack! No amount of self-improvement is enough. There is no rest."
Am I reading self improvement books because I think something is wrong with me? If I am honest I must say yes, that is my motivation at times. Holden's words brought me back to his "Unconditional Love" world view. There's nothing wrong with reading self help material, I was reminded, but with the motivation of learning more about who I really am, rather than trying to "fix" myself.
Holden has many other nuggets of wisdom spread throughout Shift Happens. I recommend the book for anyone who would like a daily dose of positive inspiration to start their day.
This is another book review in my partnership with Hay House. I was not financially compensated for this post. I received the book from Hay House for review purposes. The opinions are completely my own based on my experience.Shift Happens: How to Live an Inspired Life...Starting Right Now Overview

The Storm Before the Calm: Book 1 in the Conversations with Humanity Series ReviewThe critically acclaimed and controversial Conversations With God by Neale Donald Walsch single-handedly changed the fundamental attitude of many individuals around the world about God and religion. During a devastating time in his life, Walsch reached rock bottom and turned inward, praying to God for answers. To his surprise and the surprise of his readers, he received responses to all of his questions, responses he believes arrived through direct communication with the Divine. Those answers, revolutionary and controversial, have been examined throughout the world, and they have shifted many preconditioned attitudes toward an entirely different meaning of life.
In The Storm Before The Calm, Neale Donald Walsch reexamines many of the ideas originally presented in Conversations With God. Fundamentally, the concepts remain the same. The human race is here on Earth, experiencing a physical existence, in order to remember that we all originate from one source, God, so that we can co-create our existence with all of the other individual expressions of God. However, this new book calls humanity to action, stating that the world's greatest problems are neither economic nor political, but rather spiritual in nature. Walsch is suggesting that a critical mass from around the globe must come together in the ultimate conversation to effect a paradigm shift that would ultimately eliminate poverty, reduce suffering, obliterate starvation, and ensure the most basic of rights to all of humanity: survival.
Walsch is inspirational in his challenging of the status quo, explaining how and why humanity shares certain political, economical, and religious viewpoints. He blames the consolidation of wealth and the grasp for power and world domination as the root causes to the problem. He also waxes philosophical in suggesting that humanity must shift from seeing life's circumstances as a dyad (black or white, fast or slow, light or dark) to a triad (black, white, and both; fast, slow, and both; light, dark, and both). He cites the religious teachings of Father, Son, and Holy Ghost as the three aspects of God and further demonstrates humanity's triad of body, mind, and soul, suggesting that many issues would be solved if we re-established a connection with our soul's purpose and better understood the continual evolution of our soul.
Throughout the book, Walsch regularly cites Wikipedia as a reliable and trustworthy source of information. Critics of the online encyclopedia have been able to find examples of grossly inaccurate information. However, overall, the tool has been proven as accurate, or more so, than many existing information resources. Essentially, what the world has done in creating Wikipedia, is exactly what Walsch is calling for in The Storm Before The Calm, so citing the resource is appropriate for this work. Walsh suggests that when humanity comes together as a critical mass, the culture shifts and amazing things happen. Essentially, this is what Wikipedia has done, bringing the world's resources together to create an online megasystem of information.
Where Walsch lost my interest was in some of his radical ideas relating to the resolution of poverty, global warming, and starvation. Although he states his ideas are merely a launching pad for further discussion, he is clearly passionate in his views. Many times, he suggests that we are destroying the planet and that overpopulation will ultimately lead to even greater lack of resources. Yet one of his fundamental concepts is that nothing can be created or destroyed since everything has always existed. He also claims that everyone could have everything they've ever desired if only they would shift their perspective and thinking. This is contradictory to his claims that the Earth does not have enough resources to support the growth of the human race. He also fails to cite the looming population decline in many of the world's largest cultures. All over Asia, Europe, and Latin America, fertility rates are on the decline. Walsch also suggests capping income and forcing any excess income over the cap into a global fund for redistribution. He states this is not socialism since the individual contributor would be able to designate 50% of the excess to the cause of his or her choice. I'm not sure the world is ready for such a radical concept, nor am I sure this is the right answer.
However, one could argue that radical problems require radical solutions, and Neale Donald Walsch is certainly offering creative solutions. By bringing the world together in conversation, he is inspirational in his call to humanity to rewrite its current story and culture based on asking and answering seven basic questions, outlined the book. The result, he hopes, would be a humanity that understands its connection to Divinity, its soul's purpose in being here on Earth, methods by which to end poverty and exploitation of the people and resources on the planet, and a culture shift from one of materialism to one of spirituality. The Storm Before the Calm: Book 1 in the Conversations with Humanity Series Overview
