Journalution: Journaling to Awaken Your Inner Voice, Heal Your Life and Manifest Your Dreams ReviewI honestly think people could save a lot of money on therapy bills if we all kept journals like Sandy suggests.
I was a bit skeptical when I started reading-- why do I need a book to tell me how to write a journal?-- but my eyebrows became less furrowed as she won me over with really delicious prompts. That was the most valuable part for me; the prompts are get-to-the-core exercises, not trivial games. Even as I read them, my brain went into overdrive about all the things I wanted to write down.
We all get to know ourselves better when we write down our experiences, our hopes, our frustrations. In doing so, we can be better in our other roles, too... when you learn to turn to your journal in times of stress, you tend to be much calmer when talking to the people who are contributing to your stress! In short, get your temper out on the page instead of blowing up at loved ones. Sandy's book favors substance over style, which I loved. It got me on the path toward the right questions to ask myself so I can find the right answers.
If you're interested in writing therapeutically and becoming clearer about what you need to do to make yourself happy and/or fulfill your goals, this is a great book for guidance. Enjoy the path of self-discovery!

Experiencing God Day-By-Day: A Devotional and Journal ReviewI highly recommend this daily devotional for every Christian, new or old in the faith. I have bought this every year for the past 4 years. It is a wonderful way to keep a diary and helpful for looking back on to see your growth in our Lord. Each day you start with a passage from the Scriptures and a commentay about it. I do not always agree with the commentaries, but they do make me think about what the Lord is telling me through His Word. I can, also, look back and see how the Lord has helped me through bad times and also, more importantly, see how he has blessed me through them and also through my good times. A Catholic Woman's Book of Days ReviewI'm a big fan of Amy Welborn's writing, so it's no surprise that I loved A Catholic Woman's Book of Days. At the core of this book, however, lies the reason that I'm a Welborn fan. In succinct fashion, this book manages to educate, provoke and inspire the reader. Each of the daily offerings in the book includes a scripture reference, a two to five paragraph reflection, and a closing prayer. In her introductory remarks, Welborn shares that in this book she's tried to help the reader "clear a spiritual space" in her busy life to recognize the Presence of God.
Like most of the women I know, Welborn is a busy professional, a wife and mother who seems to "do it all" with great success. Perhaps that is why she was able to write this book in a tone that hits home for so many of us. If you're looking to make quiet time and daily prayer a part of your spiritual life, you will find this book to be a wonderful companion.
