The Ultimate Journey: A Novel (Ultimate Gift) ReviewThe Ultimate Journey, while a somewhat inspiring read, is very much like reading the Ultimate Gift and The Ultimate Life all over again. In The Ultimate Journey, Jason Stevens and his new bride, Alexia are given a journal of Red Stevens, Jason's grandfather. Each chapter is a mix of excerpts from the journal, thoughts of Jason, Alexia and the chauffeur, and a review of the DVD messages that we read of in both of the first two books. In all honesty, I was a little bored reading this book, as I felt I had heard the messages in both the previous books. There wasn't much of a story line, mostly just a little more wisdom in each of the 12 areas of the Ultimate Gift. What also bothered me about this book was the inconsistencies. First, in the Ultimate Gift, Jason is introduced as Red Stevens' great nephew. But in the second book, he is known as Red's Grandson, and we are told that he was always the grandson, but was ashamed to admit it. Second inconsistency; at the end of The Ultimate Life, Jason and Alexia are married at the Red Stevens Urban Park. But at the beginning of The Ultimate Journey, we are told that they have just been married at Emily's Home (a home for families of children suffering with serious illnesses). Thirdly, the judge who presided over the court case in The Ultimate Life was named Judge Davis, but in the Ultimate Journey, we are told the judge was named Judge Neely. While these inconsistencies don't really change the message or even the story line, it bothers me that the author couldn't get the facts straight from one book to another. I enjoyed reading the Ultimate Gift, and feel that the other two books kind of ruin it. The story should have ended with the first book. The Ultimate Journey: A Novel (Ultimate Gift) OverviewWant to learn more information about The Ultimate Journey: A Novel (Ultimate Gift)?
